A couple of reviewers who've enjoyed the book have objected to Alex falling in love again after her husband is murdered. To them, the interval between the tragedy and her heart opening is just too brief. It strikes them as false.
My guess is that some people believe that the hero and heroine in romance novels should have one true love, one soulmate. That person alone is their destiny. It may be that these readers hold this same belief in "real" life also.
